On Thursday, November 10th 2016, in the morning the French and German students analyzed samples of tap water.

They had brought from their homes (Hardness,pH, conductivity, chlorides and sulphates).

After a well detiled explanation and a quick slide show to better understand the reactions, the students immediately went to the lab were they worked in pairs and were helped by two Italian students. Conductivity and pH test were completed thanks to their respective tools. Sulphates and chlorides verification were carried out by using their specific reactants.

Hardness test was a titration using EDTA, the students were able to check their waters hardness (hardness is a non-specific parameters that helps to understand how many ions can be found). The final results were put in a chart.

On 11th november the chemistry class 5°A and our French and German friends went to Brescia to visit IRLE SRL.

IRLE SRL is an italian engineering company operating in the biomass and waste managment field, aiming at the material recycling.

The company develop and market plants for the solid waste, waste treatment and their conversion into combustible field, a more advance research phase from the waste to energy.

IRLE was born from the intuition of some entrepeemeurs based in North of Italy, collect or revelant know-how of professional expert engineers with hig level competence in resorching efficient and innovative solutions to create energy from industrial waste tratament.

We left to Casalpusterlengo at 8:30 and we were sitting next to a German or French guy. When we arrived we were very well greated and we started visit from the place well all materials are separated, after we visited the


We were happy to welcome our Erasmus friends in our laboratory of organic chemistry; for a short presentation of polymers  by Italian chemistry teacher Lara Anelli and an interesting experiment.

Afer wearing lab coat, glasses and gloves we started working, each Italian chemical acted as a tutor to two Erasmus friends.

We created nylon  6.10 and some resorcinol, this experiment required a lot of attention for dangerous substance to be used.

For the nylon 6.10 we used chloride sebacoile, carbon tetrachloride, sodium hydroxide in tablets, hexamethylenediamine and nylon yarn.

For the formation of solid resorcine we used hydrochloric acid, resorcinol an formaldehyde and obteing a pink solid compact.

This experiment allowed to distinguish the polymer in plastic polymer.

This experience has allowed us to explain in English what we study every day and to give and appointment for the next day for the trip to IRLE in Brescia.
